Honda Civic 2018: Prices, versions and equipment in Mexico

The newest generation of the Honda Civic was just released a couple of years ago, but that does not prevent the Japanese brand is willing to make some adjustments to give their customers what they ask. That’s why by 2018, the Honda Civic releases a couple of versions that improve its equipment, while adding new colors and offers small details that make it a better product. Starting with the sedan body, the base version is still the EX with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower. This version is the only one that comes equipped with the 6-speed manual box and does not offer the CVT box as an option. This version did not receive any change, so everything remains exactly the same. It is on the next step that we begin to see changes. The EX CVT version disappears to make way for the i-Style . This new version, which still uses the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, adds equipment that was previously reserved only for versions with the turbo engine, making it a better-equipped EX CVT . Now with smart key with remote engine start, 16-inch aluminum wheels, reversing camera, fog lights and infotainment system with 7-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity , among others. All this basically what it does is deliver a Civic with the equipment of the turbo version, but with the engine naturally aspirated. The Turbo version disappears and now the Turbo Plus is the input model to the 1.5 liter turbo engine with 174 horsepower. The equipment is basically the same as the i-Style, but it adds electric sunroof, leather clothing, lane change assistance monitor, leather-wrapped steering wheel and GPS navigator and inculiding honda civic cover for damage safty.

The top range for the sedan body is now the new Touring . It will be easier to identify thanks to the new rear spoiler, 17-inch wheels, mirrors and handles with chrome finish and LED headlights. Inside we find paddles of change behind the steering wheel (finally), and infotainment system with 7-inch screen that adds two speakers to reach a total of 10. The range of colors changes and now the white orchid, the lunar silver and the steel gray will be available for all the versions; sport blue is available for turbocharged versions and the new i-Style , while cosmic blue is changed for black glass and is not available for the EX version . In Mexico, the interiors are black for all exterior colors.

Honda Civic 2018

The Civic Coupe is still alive, and although it seems strange, it is the model with the most accessible price if we want the turbo engine, especially if we take into account that it has basically the same equipment as the Turbo Plus . The only thing it does not share with the sedan version are the reversing camera, the lane change assistance monitor and the leather vestiudras. There is also bad news for lovers of the green color that had the Civic Coupé , as it was discontinued for this year, leaving as an option only the black crystal, blue sport, white orchid and rally red, with interiors in color ivory for all but the new blue sport that has interiors in gray color.

ESPECIAL: Tudo sobre o Honda Civic

The Honda Civic completes 40 years of automotive market in 2012. The model, designed by Soichiro Honda, founder of the car manufacturer that bears his name in the 70’s, has gone through nine generations. In this dossier, assembled by iCarros , you know a little more about the history of the sedan.

Introduction

For those who are fans of the sedan segment, the Civic brings together characteristics that make it one of the reference models in this market. In the reformulation he underwent in 2006, the stigma of the uncle’s car was left a little aside, thanks to the modern design that the car received. At the time, the New Civic was the kickoff to begin a change in the Brazilian sedan market configuration. The novelty came to the leadership of the segment, but the evolution of competitors, as well as the arrival of models with better cost-benefit, have made the sales decline. In addition, the end of the five-year life cycle was delayed by the natural disaster in Japan in March last year.

The 2012 line began to be sold in Brazil as early as January this year. The Civic was updated aesthetically, but better than that, it won equipment like electric sunroof, parking camera and GPS navigator, items that were already on the list of competitors and were not offered to buyers of the sedan. The interior has also been crafted: there is more space in the cabin, in the trunk and in the fuel tank for more autonomy of the model. In addition, a new technology came to be allied with the 1.8-liter flex engine of the model: the ECON system. With it on, all car management is controlled to consume less fuel; the process goes from air conditioning to the anticipation of gear change. According to Honda, the economy reaches 2.2%. This year, the Civic , in addition to maintaining its endless battle with the Toyota Corolla , won yet another major competitor: the Chevrolet Cruze, which, together with the two models, forms the triad of top-selling sedans. From the list, however, the Civic is the most expensive.

More on the renovation of the Honda Civic

The latest generation of the Japanese compact offers everything you can ask for: efficient mechanics, great habitability, the latest technology and even a sports version, with 320 HP of power. In its tenth generation, the Honda Civic 2018 is still one of the most complete compact that can be found in the market. And it is, not only because of its more than four decades of experience, but also because of how it is reinvented in each new delivery. In the latter, he is still committed to a really striking design, which combines with two bodies (each with its own personality), a lot of interior space, a large boot, the latest technology and connectivity and one of the best sports variants of its category, known as Civic Type R.

5 Doors or Sedan, you choose

We will start talking about the five-door body, a traditional compact, as far as conception is concerned, which reaches 4.52 meters in length. A figure that allows you to offer your occupants the space of a family car; especially, in the rear seats. In addition, it has a large trunk, of 478 liters capacity, which benefits from a practical gate and a wide loading mouth. In this way, placing all the luggage is child’s play …

For its part, the Sedan points to the segment of the sedans, thanks to its attractive silhouette and 4.64 meters long. With an equally good habitability, which allows five adults to travel in its cabin, the capacity of the trunk rises to 519 liters. Who said space problems?

Advanced gasoline engines

On the mechanical plane, we must praise the revolutionary VTEC TURBO engines, which combine the tradition of Honda when it comes to developing gasoline mechanics, with the use of a turbocharger, the variable electronic valve opening and elevation control (i-VTEC ) and the variable distribution (double VTC). As an option to access the Honda Civic 2018 range , the 1.0 VTEC TURBO engine, with 1.0 liters of displacement and tricylindrical architecture, which declares 129 HP of power and between 4.7 and 5.1 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, appears. , in mixed route. Just above, with four cylinders, the 1.5 VTEC TURBO is positioned, with 182 HP. In this case, the consumption rises slightly, between 5.8 and 6.1 liters per 100 kilometers, while the benefits also improve: it reaches 220 km / h and accelerates from 0 to 100 in 8.2 seconds. Although the manual six-speed gearbox is standard in all cases, optionally, both can benefit from an automatic transmission with continuous variator (CVT). Now, if you are looking for maximum efficiency in driving, you will be happy to know that the whole range includes the ECON mode, which adapts various parameters of the car, in order to reduce fuel consumption to the maximum.

New turbo diesel engine with 120 HP

Earlier this year, Honda unveiled the new 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine, with 120 horsepower. An option that is already available for both bodies of the Honda Civic 2018 , five doors and Sedan. For the occasion, this four-cylinder block, with 1.6 liters of displacement, develops 300 Nm of maximum torque. In addition, thanks to a thorough and exhaustive technical review, emits less polluting particles, compared to the previous generation, which is more respectful with the environment. Taking as a reference the five-door variant, the average consumption is reduced to 3.5 liters per 100 kilometers, which translates into emissions of 93 g / km of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), in the NEDC cycle. As far as the benefits are concerned, the maximum speed reached is 201 km / h, while the acceleration from 0 to 100 is done in 10.0 seconds. For its part, the Sedan improves this data to achieve an average consumption of 3.4 liters per 100 kilometers and 91 g / km.

At the moment, it is only available with a six-speed manual gearbox, although it has also been announced that it will soon be able to equip an automatic with a nine-speed torque converter, developed by ZF.
